Local Pro Kit
Acceptable Use rules
Last updated:
We build websites for honest local businesses. These rules say what we won’t build, host or send texts for. They are part of our Terms of Service.
The short version
- No illegal, adult, violent, hateful or deceptive businesses or content.
- Photos show your work, your space or your products — professional, not suggestive.
- We check every order and every change. When we’re not sure, a person looks before anything is built or published.
- We may refuse an order, hold it for a person to check, or remove content or a site that breaks these rules.
Who we build for
Our sites are made for plumbing & hvac, electrical, house cleaning and hair salon & barber businesses. If you pick “Something else”, a person on our team checks your business before any work starts — usually within one business day.
For a business outside the trades we list, we ask for its street address and phone number, and a person checks it — usually against its Google listing — before any work starts.
Businesses we don’t take
We don’t build, host or send texts for any business that sells or offers these, or for sites that show them:
- Sexual images of children, and intimate images shared without consent — any sexual or sexualised image or words about a child, and nude or intimate images of anyone shared without their consent (“revenge porn”, hidden-camera or “leaked” photos, fake nude images). Zero tolerance: see “Zero tolerance” below.
- Illegal drugs, prescription drugs without a prescription, and “legal highs” — selling or delivering illegal drugs, prescription medicines without a prescription, “legal highs”, synthetic herbs and “spice”, pipes, bongs and other drug gear.
- Cannabis, THC and CBD sellers — dispensaries, delivery, THC or CBD products — cannabis is still illegal under US federal law, and card processors restrict it.
- Weapons sales — firearms, ammunition, gun parts and illegal knives.
- Explosives, fireworks and weapon-making plans — explosives, fireworks, bomb-making, plans or files for making weapons — including 3D-printed gun files and “ghost gun” kits.
- Adult or sexual services and content — escorts, adult entertainment, adult goods, “massage” that is not therapy, and sexually suggestive photos — including revealing swimwear or lingerie-style shots.
- Dating, sugar-dating and paid companionship — dating or “sugar daddy” sites, paid companionship, “hostess” or “VIP model” services and anything else close to escorting.
- Gambling — casinos, betting, bookmaking, sweepstakes and lottery sales.
- Illegal or crime-related services — hacking, fake IDs, money laundering, helping someone get around the police or a court order.
- Organized crime and gangs — businesses run by or for organized crime groups or gangs (in Japan, “antisocial forces”), extortion and “protection” services.
- Human trafficking, organ sales and endangered wildlife — trafficking people or forced labour, selling human organs, and selling endangered animals, ivory or other protected wildlife.
- Malware, phishing and hacking tools — malware or ransomware, phishing kits or pages, tools to steal passwords or card details, and spyware for watching someone without their knowledge.
- Counterfeit or stolen goods — fakes of brand products, “replicas”, goods with no proof of where they came from.
- Payday loans, illegal lending and wage-advance schemes — payday or title loans, unlicensed lending and loan sharking, “wage-advance” factoring, and debt-relief schemes that charge up front.
- Pretending to be a licensed professional — offering legal, medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy or other licensed services without the licence, and fake titles or credentials.
- Get-rich-quick and money-making hype — get-rich-quick offers, “passive income” courses and info-products sold with hype, guaranteed returns and trading signals.
- Deceptive or fraud schemes — phishing, fake reviews, MLM and pyramid schemes, fake discounts, pretending to be another business.
- Hate or harassment — attacks on people for who they are, threats, bullying, posting someone’s private details.
- Terrorism and violent extremism — supporting, praising or recruiting for terrorist or violent extremist groups, or calling for violence against a group.
- Violence or graphic content — threats, gore, cruelty, praising violence.
- Promoting self-harm or suicide — encouraging or explaining self-harm, suicide or eating disorders.
- Anything else that is illegal — anything against New York State or US law.
Zero tolerance
Zero tolerance for sexual images of children, and for intimate images of anyone shared without their consent. If our checks or a report find any, we take the site offline at once, close the account with no refund, keep a record of what was found, and report it to the authorities as the law requires.
This applies to anything sent to us — an order, a photo, a change, a text — not only to what is on a site. We keep only what the law asks us to keep, and we never show it to anyone but the authorities.
Photos and words on your site
- Photos show your work, your space, your team at work or your products — not people’s bodies.
- Keep every photo professional and non-suggestive. No revealing swimwear, lingerie-style or “boudoir” shots, even if they are legal.
- Before-and-after photos of hair, nails or skin are fine when they are close-ups of the work.
- Only words and photos you have the right to use: no one else’s logos, reviews or pictures.
- No hateful, violent, graphic or frightening words or pictures.
- Customers’ personal details never go on your site without their written OK.
Salons and barbers: a close-up of a cut, a colour, nails or brows is perfect. A photo where the body is the subject, not the work, is not.
Texts and change requests
Only the owner’s registered phone or signed-in app can ask for a site change. A text from anyone else is passed on to the owner and never changes the site.
Don’t use your texting number for spam, for texts people didn’t agree to, or for anything these rules don’t allow. Carriers can block a number that does.
How we check
When you order, tell us about your business and send photos, our system checks the words and photos against these rules. It may use an AI service to help. It doesn’t decide on its own when it’s unsure — then a person looks. A person also checks every new site before it goes live.
We also protect the forms on our sites from bots and spam. A message that looks like spam is set aside and not sent to you as a lead.
The check also looks for businesses dressed up as something else — for example a “relaxation” business with late-night, cash-only or “discreet” wording — and for words spelled to get past a filter. Those always go to a person.
Links on your site are checked for malware and phishing. A new link you add in a change waits for a person until it is checked.
Please use an email address you keep — we can’t accept throwaway (disposable) email addresses.
If a site breaks these rules
- Something small (7 days to fix): Something small breaks these rules — for example a photo that is too revealing, someone else’s logo, or words that need changing. We email you what to fix and give you 7 days. If it isn’t fixed by then, we pause the site until it is.
- Something serious: An illegal, adult or dangerous business or content, or anything that could hurt someone: we pause the site straight away and email you why.
- Zero tolerance: Zero tolerance for sexual images of children, and for intimate images of anyone shared without their consent. If our checks or a report find any, we take the site offline at once, close the account with no refund, keep a record of what was found, and report it to the authorities as the law requires.
If we end the service because the rules were broken, the one-time build is not refunded, and any monthly plan stops with no further charges. Unless the site was removed for illegal content, you still get your domain’s transfer code and a copy of your data, as our ownership promise says.
Think we got it wrong? Reply to the notice email. A person reads every reply and can lift the pause.
If we refuse or remove something
We may refuse an order, hold it for a person to check, or remove content or a site that breaks these rules.
- Before you approve your preview: If we refuse your order before you approve your preview, you get a full refund of what you paid. This is the same promise as “Full refund until you approve your preview.” in our Terms.
- After your site is live: If your site is already live and we take it down because it breaks these rules, the one-time build is not refunded. Any monthly plan stops, with no further charges.
We tell you why, and you can reply if you think we got it wrong. A person reads every reply.
Reporting a site
Every site we host has a small “Report this site” link at the bottom. Reports go to a person on our team. If a site breaks these rules, we can take it offline while we look into it.
Changes to these rules
If we change these rules, we update the date at the top of this page. Questions? Reply to any email from us.
